Academic Therapy Publications (ATP) was founded in 1965 by John I. Arena, an educator and therapist who was at the forefront of the learning disabilities movement in the 1960s and 1970s.

Academic Therapy Publications was one of the first publishers to meet the needs of teachers, parents, and students in the field of special education and learning disabilities. Now, 50 years after its founding, ATP is still a family-owned business that is proud to continue producing relevant materials that can be used by special ed teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, educational therapists, ESL teachers, parents, and specialists in all fields working with persons with reading, learning, and communication disabilities.
